Open Politics

Introduction

Open Politics is a thought process for good government. Today 15th August 2020 Independence Day, so its a good time to articulate concepts which was revolving around my head. This thought process is all gained from research in Internet and other country governance and its simple yet not implemented in our country.

“ Open Politics is a methodology for finding the democratic “middle of the road” politically speaking and moving forward by building better society.

Problem Statement :

• We are voting elected representative due to emotions,money and influence happen during elections through various media and speech.
• Elected representatives don’t have or don’t follow any process to complete their work, hence there are no timelines.
• Most of us have no knowledge on our Constitution.
• lack of transparency even at the lower levels (i.e Gram Panchayat).
• Social media (including news channels) influence on political views.
• Political governance is a celebrity appearance chapter in schools.
• We are trained not educated and many are hesitant to ask questions due to the fear built around or no particular channel to raise voice.
• Almost 80% of citizens thing voting is only work they should do, rest is left to elected representative.

How do we Solve Them?

First solution is to alleviate each of the problem listed above and listing out solutions.

Is this that simple? “ I don’t know!! May be its hard but its fruitful.

Principles which are needed:

Being Transparent : Secrecy is failure of government, everything should be transparent with exact data.

Being Objective: People should be imperative or crucial on voting representatives based on ideas or policies they submit during elections

Being Deliberative : Decision making and debating capabilities should be provided to people and most important thing is to channelize final decision in one particular channel or media which is authentic. (this has room for improvement)

Being Accountable : Citizens need not tolerate being lied to, or kept in the dark by their elected representatives.

Implementing Open Politics :

Lets restore the vision of how democracy is supposed to be

I will be writing some visionary solutions which are already implemented in other countries and was discussed with many people. May be solutions could be wrong in some areas.

But always there is a room for improvement and topics. Any discussions on this are happily welcome.

Solutions which will be articulated here can be implemented by open source community who are ready to help out and do discussions.
